It's a Small World After All

In August 2006, I met Carol and Tim through my friend Nitin. This enthusiastic, service-minded couple from Ashland were in Kigali on a Rotary International sponsored mission to get the LN-4 prosthetic hand into the lives of amputees around the world. For their work, see: http://www.odysseyphotography.net/galleries_view.php?s=5&np=7&galleries_key=461 In 2009, when Carol and Tom returned to Rwanda, I asked them for a favor...

Dear Kresta,

Our visit in Rwanda was splendid, and though Ildephonse [the orphanage's Director] was not around, we were able to visit Gisimba Memorial and meet both John and Leon, whom we presented with notebooks and pens. I wish we could have done more. Here are some photos from the visit...

Warm regards,
Carol and Tim

Although I would have liked to have been the one visiting Gisimba Memorial Centre, I am delighted that Carol and Tom were able to see my little friends. From my perspective in Bournemouth, England, that my friends from Oregon, USA, could visit a little orphanage in the heart of Africa makes the world feel small.
